  1. Ideal replacement for Soy sauce if you're on GAPS Review by Maeshafn Food Group -

This is a tasty sauce but quite different from Tamari etc. If you've got gut problems and are on a SCD or Gaps eating regime, this is a useful stand by but you need a very small amount as its quite sweet. You can add a little grain free Dijon mustard to make it more savoury, and as I said above, a little goes a long way. I've used it effectively on chicken wings and also chops and even in mixtures for stuffing eggs etc. (Posted on 16/03/2018)

  2. Packs a lot of flavour Review by Lucy Banks -

We were looking for an alternative to soy sauce, mainly due to the salt content - and for us, this really hit the spot. I cook for my children, so they liked the slightly sweet flavour - it adds a nice smoky depth to your dishes. (Posted on 02/07/2017)

  3. Not really a substitute Review by Cae Rhug Farm Csa -

I bought this to try out some vegan recipes( curiosity only, as I'm not a vegan). The taste is good as long as you're not expecting it to taste like any kind of soy or Tamari sauce! It's very sweet and doesn't have the depth of flavour or the kick of the above mentioned condiments. I can see it would be OK for use in a BarbBQ type sauce but you'd need quite a bit of salt and other flavours to get any kind of 'zing'. The taste is pleasant enough but I can get a similar taste with honey and mustard! Also the bottle has a large hole to dispense the sauce so if you're used to having to shake the soy bottle so you can measure the amount, BE WARY - this comes out in a huge gush and ruined the sauce I was making for some chicken last week. I know I should have checked the size of the hole, but I just though 'soy sauce ' and started to shake it into the pan.... About 1/2 a cupful came pouring out over my tablespoon and the taste was so sweet it took a bit of creativity to get the savoury taste I'd intended. If you're trying to be soy free, then this could be a good alternative though good organic soy/ Tamari sauce is fermented and so very healthy. Quite expensive for a sauce that doesn't hit the spot on the savoury level but ok on porridge perhaps:-) (Posted on 24/02/2017)
